News and Events
Friday last 31st May saw Silvertones back in Bellefield for their weekly rehearsal.
Four new pieces of music were handed out;
Always Look On the Bright Side of Life
What a wonderful world
I Love a Broadway Show
The Peace Carol.
It did seem a bit strange singing a Christmas Carol on the last day of May, but preparation is everything and we will have a lot of work to do before Christmas.
UPCOMING EVENTS
We hope to sing with the children’t choir in St. Aidan’s Cathedral in September.
November 1st will see us back in St. Aidan’s for the Candle of Hope service.
I’m sure we hope to have a full program of Carol singing for Christmas time.
Plans are already underway for next year’s concert.
On Thursday 29th May, 53 members of Silvertones went to Monart Destination Spa for lunch. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful setting. The choir enjoyed a really tasty three course lunch followed by tea or coffee. There was a lovely choice of food and the presentation was very good and the staff were very attentive and friendly. After lunch Percy Rothwell, chairman, thanked everyone for coming and said how successful the concert had been and thanked everyone involved in the project. Sheelagh O’Leary was thanked for her work with the choir and was presented with a beautiful floral bouquet and a gift of a voucher for the National Concert Hall. Sheelagh was surprised and delighted. Then a birthday cake with candles was brought in for Eithne, who’s birthday it was. All efforts to blow out the candles proved fruitless as they were trick candles. When the lunch was over people drifted out into the garden and enjoyed the surroundings. Here are some photos of the people who lunched!

After the concert in St. Aidan’s Cathedral on Thursday night 23rd May 2013 The choir and friends adjourned to The Bailey for refreshments.
A very pleasant time was spent analyzing the concert and agreeing that it had all gone very well and that the stars of the show were Silvertones!
This was in great measure due to the hard work done by Eithne Corrigan ably assisted by Eanna Mc Kenna who didn’t play a bum note all night!
