Silvertones took part in this concert on Friday night last. The concert was a fund raiser for the Cathedral organ. The organ needs repairs which will cost €40,000. It is hoped to raise €10,000 per year over the next 4 years. There will be a series of fundraisers and the carol concert was the first of these.t was broadcast on local South East Radio. We have made a video of Silvertones part in the concert and also in the Candle of Hope night in the Cathedral. We are hoping to put this video on You Tube so all members can view it.
Carol Singing in St. Senan’s and St. John’s hospitals.
About 2o members of Silvertones went carol singing in the two hospitals on Thursday 20th December. Eric Duncan introduced us to everyone and Frances Duncan accompanied us on her accordian. We sang Silent NIght and Jingle Bells etc. and then had a quiet chat with some of the people there. We went to ST. Senan’s first and then on to St. John’s hospital where we sang in four different venues in the hospital. We were speaking with Nora Doyle who is a former member of Silvertones and enjoyed the music.

We had 57 members singing and sang “The Angel’s Advent Carol, A Winter Night, Celtic Silent Night, Away in a Manger and Christmas Gloria. We got some very positive feedback from the congregation and Father Kelly, who said mass, said he didn’t want it to end!
The Candle of Hope Ceremony was held in St. Aidan’s Cathedral on Friday night 2nd November.
There was a large attendance at the Ceremony which was broadcast on South East Radio.
Bishop Brennan and Rev. Chris Long officiated at the ceremony and members of clergy from other churches were present and gave an individual blessing to people in the congregation.
Soprano Liz Whelan sang several hymns accompanied by Eanna McKenna.
Silvertones sang The Lord is my Light as their opening hymn, then as the candles were being lit down in the church they sang “This Little Light of Mine” After the prayers of the faithful the choir sang “A Choral Benediction”. During the individual blessings Silvertones sang “Amazing Grace” and “Make me a Channel of Your Peace” the final hymn during the blessings was “The Prayer”

This will take place in St. Aidan’s Cathedral, Enniscorthy at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on local radio.
Bishop Brennan and the Rev. Long will lead the congregation in prayers and blessings. This service is very meaningful to anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. People who cannot make it to the church are invited to light their candle at home and listen to the radio.
